[pct-l] hiking in a dress?

Amy --

I tried hiking in a dress on my PCT thru-hike last year and didn't 
like it, mostly b/c I got chafing -- no matter what I did.  I ended 
up wearing my shorts underneath.  Also, my dress fell apart really 
fast in the back where my pack rubbed. It was great, however, to have 
a dress for town clothes. It was so hot and it felt nice to feel like 
a girl again in town and not be in stinky hiker clothes.

Belcher, another '03 thru-hiker, hiked in a dress and loved it. So, 
hopefully, she'll reply to this. She thought it was breezy, made it 
easier to hitchhike and she could pee w/o taking her pack off. She 
said olive oil helped her w/ chafing.

So, I'd say -- try it and see if you like it.
