You also might be able to hitchhike into the town of North Bend. I 
think it was only about 20 miles or so, but you may want to check a 
map on that.  We went there b/c my parents visited us there, and they 
had a car so I didn't try hitchhiking.  North Bend had lots of 
motels, restaurants and a large Safeway.
