I had forgotton about Rush Creek. Checking my notes, I see that I crossed it
at first light on July 2, after spending the night at Island Pass. I noted
that it was above the knees and particularly cold but not running too hard.
The differences between times of day, snowpack, melt rate, and all the variables
we can't account for, like phase of the moon and number of snicker's bars in
the pack are what makes it so exciting.
