If you do not have one already, I would suggest you purchase the Ore/Wash
book for the PCT it will give you mileages and where you can get off the
trail. May is absolutely not the month to do Oregon. Late July or early
August may be better especially if the snow melt is gone. A string of pack
animals may or may not be a good idea going over the Goat Rocks.
