[pct-l] RE: umbrellas

I hiked with a guy who uses two hiking poles and wouldn't be without his umbrella. He was able to simply slip the handle under his sternum strap and rest the umbrella against his shoulder. (Probably not good for use in windy weather.) I don't know what brand the umbrella was, but it had a round wooden knob for a handle. He used the set-up on his thru-hikes of both the AT and IAT. He'll be on the PCT in 2004....watch for Barkeater.
