I have the Aether 60 and used it for the JMT this year and loved it! It
has a great suspension system and carries loads up to 40 lbs
comfortably. The 3700ci volume was just enough to carry the 9 days
food/gear from VVR to Whitney, and that was using a combination of bear
canister and Ursack to fit all the food. With the 9 days of food inside
the pack, however, I had to strap my tarptent to the top of the pack for
a couple of days before I could get it back into the pack. The mesh
pockets on the outside of the pack are great for quick access items too!
I'll be using the Aether 60 for my '04 thru-hike,
Brian

hi all,
i have a golite team backpack which is great - i used
it on a 10 day thru-hike of the tahoe rim trail. and
it would be great for any hikes with <25 or so pounds.
however, i think i need a more robust suspension for
my 2004 ca pct hike. especially for those really long
days and carrying lots of food / water at various
times.
anyone use an osprey aether 60 backpack for a long
hike? i've heard good things about it, and would love
to hear people's opinions.
thanks!
