[pct-l] eastside sierra ride

What a timely topic! My wife and I are planning a southbound JMT hike next
July, Leaving around the 13th, plus or minus a couple days. Transportation
is one item that's had me a little baffled. We are planning on driving down
from Portland. My initial thought was to drive to Whitney Portal and hitch
back up to Happy Isles, figuring we'd smell better than if we tried to hitch
at the end of the hike! I emailed Kountry Korner yesterday to the address
on the PCT site but it appears the address is no good. So questions... Just
how much is their service? Will we have much luck hitching back up? Any
other great ideas for making this work? Also, how safe is a car parked at
Whitney Portal for 3 weeks?!!

Thanks in advance,

David
