[pct-l] Three Sisters

Warning: intentions are great, but after hiking thousands of miles, very few
through hikers actually summit more than Mt. Whitney. But, if he is up for
it, it certainly will add a different dimension to the adventure.

The USDA Forest Service maps of the PCT (Northern Section) shows The
Sisters. Probably the guide book does too. Not sure about the other peaks.

Three Sisters (South and Middle are hikes; North is technical) and Mt. Adams
(a hike) are almost right on trail. Jefferson is also almost on trail.
Shasta is off trail at Shasta City. You can get a map when you get the
permit. You also need a permit for Mt. Adams (but that will be tough to get
unless you stop at Trout Lake).

As for the Sisters, South is from Moraine Lake and Middle and North are
from the area around Obsidian Falls. There is a trail up South; Middle and
North - find your own way across some snow fields. You can almost always see
the top. North is a bit trickier. Going up is a great adventure.

Mt. Adams: going up from the South is the easiest which means going South on
Around the Mt. Trail where it joins the PCT. There other routes, but
probably more technical.

Both Adams and the Sisters can be done in a day if you start in the morning.
Probably someone could do Middle and North on the same day.

My 22 year old son wants to climb a number of mountains along the trail next
year, does anyone know where to get trail maps, showing the easiest trails
up?? He's especially interested in the Three Sisters , Mt. Adams, Mt.
Shasta, and Glacier Peak.
