Onion Valley/Kearsarge Pass
You could also leave going back over Shepherd Pass, but Kearsarge seems
easier.

As long as you don't want to climb Mt. Whitney it should be doable to
obtain a permit. You are going through Sequoia NF, Sequoia NP, Kings
NP, Inyo NF.

No snow fields. Miles as many as you want, bear cans suggested.
