[pct-l] PCT 2004 Thru hikers

if you have planned to thru hike the PCT in 2004 but are now having 2nd
thoughts because of
the california wild fires or the storms in washingtion stop worring about
it and start planning the hike.

the class of 2003 was not stopped by the calif 2002 pines fire and had not
planned that
there would be fires in oregon and washington this year they just made the
decision that they
were going and that was that.

i'm sure that there have been similiar problems in the past and i would
expect that i will run into
similar challenges when i do my training hikes, weekends, PCT sections,
Grand Canyon, JMT, TLT
and my thru hike of the PCT in 2008.

there are many PCT allumni, trail angles, section hikes and wantabee's that
live near the locations that
burnt in s. calif and washed out in washington that as soon as they are abe
to get into the areas we
will see first hand reports on the trail conditions. if a alternate route
is needed to get around the areas
i'm sure that info willl be available before the class of 2004 starts.

as others have said .. the unexpected is part of the PCT experience.
