[pct-l] JMT Record?

> There was an article in the San Diego Union today that Reinhold Metzger,
61, set the record for an unsupported backpack of the John Muir Trail in 5
days, 10 hours.
> It further states that Backpacker Magazine is the "unofficial
clearinghouse for such records, though there is no official book or rules
and regulations." It mentions that Brian Robinson "was rumored to be
attempting it this year, but he hadn't heard from him."
> So does anyone know if and how Brian did this year? Congratulations to
Reinhold Metzger, but if Brian did it faster it'd be nice to set the
"record" straight.

Brian did it in about 110 hours and I suspect he was supported. In 1987 a
friend and I did it unsupported, with one resupply at Red's Meadows in 8.5
days. One of these years I want to go back.
