[pct-l] The Amazing Hike

Here is my latest correspondence with Brad's MOM...........................
Marge: I'm not the person to count for individual days/mileage. My updates
were based on my understanding as I sat on the other side of the country in
an air-conditioned office in front of my computer. They were also written
to keep like-couch potatoes apprised of how things were going. So I have
forwarded your e-mail on to Brad. Since he's got a full schedule at school,
including working as a Teaching Assistant for an outdoor leadership class, I
don't know when he'll be able to get back to you.

Just in case you were wondering - I do know there was some part of the trail
in the desert where hikers could take some "short cut" and skip 23 miles off
the "official trail." Brad hiked the "official trail."

Take care,

Rudy

This is my summary from her journal,
If the kid started on May 31 and ended on July 26 that is 67 days, if you
take 10 days of that for resupply and rest days then you end up with 57
days and that works out to 45.7 miles per day each and every day hiking on
the trail. Could he do it ? I think it is possible with
The big miles in the easier parts. I remember reading in someone's journal
about a kid hiking in the night. So just maybe, huh ?

Here is my answer to Rudy,

Rudy,
Thanks for your help. With a feat like Brad has done, there are numerous
people in the long distance hiking world trying to figure out just how he
accomplished this, especially marathon runners. Brad needs some data etc. to
back up his claim so I was hoping he had a journal to satisfy inquiring
minds for record setting.

I really do look forward to reading what ever you write next, good luck.
 Cheers, Marge
