.... What about Bibler tents? Anyone have experience with them?.....
.......
Jim
I looked hard at Biblers and at their Canadian counterpart, Integral
Designs. Both are terrific. I went with an Integral Designs Mk 1 XL,
light floor option, extra door and vents and vestibule. I have never
regretted it. I really cannot chose between them in terms of quality
or design. ID will do more customized stuff. Bibler has standard some
the options on ID. ID is cheaper, generally. Bibler has more models and
bigger ones. REI can special order anything by either mfg. Things to
consider:
Bibler:
- less expensive models are not seam sealed. The better ones are.
- when I was shopping , "Caliornia legal" versions of each tent had
some flame retardent that added several ounces to each tent
- is coming out with super light versions of Ahwannee, Tripod, and I
tent in the spring with [I think] epic fabric or some variation. Might
be under Black Diamond label.
ID - in most tents, you need to specify the light floor option - same
as standard issue Bibler. No extra cost
-has available for extra cost, very nice eVent fabric models, very
light.
Both - If I recall correctly, you are over 6 feet tall? Not an issue
if you get a big tent, but you'd not be happy in a Bibler I tent or an
ID Mk 1 XL Lite. Any others would be OK.
