[pct-l] 67 Day PCT Hike?

It's too bad the PCTA website doesn't offer hiking journals online - nice
and convenient like - but instead requires that they be downloaded. Perhaps
someone who has done so can let us know whether the 67-day-guy's journal is
detailed enough to verify the claimed accomplishment.

My suspicion, if I may stick my neck out on the chopping block, is that the
claim is fallacious. Why? Because the kid was obviously going for a record -
a pace such as that doesn't happen by accident. Therefore he almost
certainly knew what he needed to beat. The first time anyone ran a
sub-four-minute mile, they did so just barely. And so it would likely go in
the world of ultra-fast thru-hiking. Unless of course he was supported all
along the way, in which case he should be very forthright about it so as not
to come across as unduly grandiose (something that a young man with
challenging life circumstances might well be tempted to do).

Chop goes the guillotine if I'm wrong, though.
