I day hiked from Cottonwood Bridge to Hwy 138 in January a couple of years
ago.    That seemed to be the right time of year to do it.   I still needed
to find shady spots to rest during the day.

In the old days (first edition) people got to hike a lot further along the
aqueduct, and going at night was said to be popular.
