[pct-l] Kelty is the Harley Davison of the trails

Kelty is the Harley of the trails! I paid 14.00 for the large size BB5 of
American Made frame and bag. New packs like the the sixmoon designs or Glen's
GV4 are both top choices for today's ultralight thru-hikers, but the old retro
kelty's are still able to handle all the rigors of the PCT and feel very cool
against your back.
Most internals sold today in the big stores are the Yamahas and Hondas
of the trail. ( Nothing though like a clissic 30 year old frame and bag made by
the father of backpacking , Dick himself.)
At Evergreen College, Tom Hornbein retold Willie Unsold and his trip up
Everest in 1963. He his credit to is success to his custom Kelty Pack as it was
" A part of him".
If you are under 40 y/o, you owe it to yourself to find a classic Kelty
as they are as American as the PCT itself.
