[pct-l] Umbrellas

Umbrellas can be handy and annoying. If it is windy, forget them. And there
is a lot of the wind in the desert, so I was constantly needing to change
how I held it. Putting reflective material on fold-up types proved
impossible. Without that layer, the sun still would burn through, but it was
better than nothing. Surprisingly, I found my umbrella to be most useful in
Washington keeping the drizzle off. Not much wind up there. Not needed at
all for the Sierras and well into Oregon. If I were to do the trek again, I
would probably take an umbrella. But, for me they didn't work as well as
Jardine implied they would.
