[pct-l] When do the Mosquitos get bad on the PCT???
Mosquitoes do quite well at high altitude. Although not on the PCT, I
remember an ascent of Mt. Elbert in Colorado - like what were those devils
doing at 14,000 ft.
However, if you are in the meadows, you could experience the beasts on the
PCT - and you go through many of them in the High Sierra. In 2000, the worst
was between Tuolumne Meadows and Dorothy Lakes. By Sonora Pass they were,
for the most part, gone. If you are lucky, you will have cold weather at
night. Sort of does them in - for a day!
