The Colorado is one of the six subdivisions of the Sonoran Desert.  It is the
hottest and driest part of the Sonoran Desert.  No Joshua Trees.... cresosote
bush, white bursage, some cacti,  and jillions of annual plants.  The Mojave
has a colder, wetter winter than the Colorado, being generally higher in
elevation... hence, Joshua Trees.
