[pct-l] RE: Whitney Questions



Twice I left my tent up at Guitar Lakes with the food in the middle covered
by sleeping bag, etc. when I hiked Whitney.  The marmots left everything
alone. Just a bit of a risk. I saw others trying to hang a food bag from a
rock up there - you won't find any trees or poles at that altitude.

I used my empty pack as my day pack - rather too large, but .... Guess you
could rig a fanny pack from a stuff sack and tie clothes around your waist.
You really don't need much food for the hike, but bring water and warm
clothes (at least for the way up if it is in the morning).
