[pct-l] gasoline stoves
BOOM was an excellent answer. Gas will burn extremely
fast/explode unless you have something that will let
you burn it in a controlled way.
On gas stoves that's the tank/valve that will let the
gas out only in tiny amounts. The rest is kept away
from the fire (and oxygen). On a alcohol-like stove
the fire will get to all the gas (and an unlimited
supply of oxygen) in an instant and explode.
Someone actually have built a selfpressurized gas
stove that works fine, the optimus 123. But as it's
heavier and harder to work than a MSR it's not used by
too many. It's a pretty old design, so maybe someone
could build a really light, easy too use gas stove
without any moving parts, but it's not something I'd
reccomend trying by yourself.
