Another one of those "containers" that California park bears have come to
associate with food is a backpack, which is presumed to contain food.
Therefore, Bruce, I too am skeptical that your system of "hiding" the food
and assuming it's safe in a pack will be effective against well-trained park
bears. Because of the relative fragility of your can, you have no defenses
left if a bear happens to discover it while foraging through your pack.
