[pct-l] gear questions

Hi Omayya,

We own a Northface Slickrock. It is a nice tent. Positive: easy to get in du=
e to
massive doors (2 of 'em), roomy headroom, quite light, very easy to set up,
possible to sit on your mat inside the tent while having breakfast and keep=
ing
all the crumbles outside. Negative: condensation, not easy to keep things d=
ry
while getting in the tent when it is raining, you'll need to seal-seam the =
seam
in the groundcloth of the tent. We much prefer our tarptent
(http://www.tarptent.com), but the tarptent is not so good for official
campgrounds, as you are very visible when you are inside and so is your gea=
r.

The tarptent sometimes has a lot of condensation also, but most of the time=
 it
does not. The only modification I may make to my gear as a result is to tak=
e a
sleeping bag with a coating that makes it more waterproof. The one I am loo=
king
at is 870 grams and keeps you warm up to -2 C. (sorry, don't know that in
pounds and Fahrenheit).

We are using an emergency blanket and a rain poncho as groundcloth under th=
e
tarp, by the way.

Best wishes,
Saskia
