Patience.  Patience sometimes pays off.

I have been looking for a copy of Clinton C. Clarke's original book on the
PCT called "The Pacific Crest Trailway" ever since it was published on the
web at; http://www.pctplanner.com/pcttrailway/.

I have requested searches through rare book stores, out-of-print search
services on the internet and repeatedly checked e-Bay.  Well, this morning,
E-Bay had one and I got it!

The seller says:

"Published in 1945 this book has been out of print for 57 years. It has 12
illustrations inside a pocket of the front cover, drawn from photographs th=
at
are about 8 =C2=BD=E2=80=9D x 5 =C2=BD =E2=80=9C of some scenic areas of th=
e Pacific Crest Trailway.
Inside the back cover pocket are 2 guides (The guides were not included wit=
h
the book when published) and 11 maps of the Pacific Crest Trailway. The map=
s
show hiking trails along the west coast. Three maps are on heavy paper and =
8
maps are on light weight tissue paper. The book has 126 pages of enamel pap=
er
describing the wilderness hiking trails as they were found in the 1940s.
There are also 4 sm. color prints that look to be cut from a travel brochur=
e
and 2 newspaper clippings dated 5/8/49 from the Toledo Blade about wilderne=
ss
expeditions and Yosemite. The name Eugene S. Lendecker is stamped in severa=
l
places in this book in green ink. The book is about 6=E2=80=9D x 9=E2=80=9D=
 x 5/8=E2=80=9D in size.

The name "Eugene S. Lendecker" seems to ring a distant bell, but I just can=
't
place it and can't find any reference to who he was on the net.  Anybody ha=
ve
a clue?
