Interesting to note that Ray Jardine, the advocate of
ditching everything that's not needed and half of what
many would consider necessary, actually recommends
taking a suction kit along in the first aid kit.

He also mentions that of the 10,000 or so venomous
snakebites anually, only about 2 are fatal (on the
average), with many snakes not even envenoming their
human targets.
