Well, the person who spends times longer gets MORE of an experience...

But say you only have 24 hours?
Who gets a better wilderness experience?
The person who hikes around Mt. Rainier in 24 hours, or the person who hikes in 5 miles and out?

As far as your dismissal of night time hiking, some of my most memorable wilderness experiences happened while traveling well after midnight by the light of the moon, or the beam of my flashlight.

You seem to object to anyone experiencing the wild in way that you don't like.
