[pct-l] Jerky on the trail

Most thru-hikers do not eat a proper diet on their hike. It is more like "
burn and binge". Hikers carb up in town with all the sugar they can hold down
and seldom get enough protein. This causes the body to " cannibalize" itself
to get enough protein for muscle repair. Jerky is light and a much needed
protein plus salt to the body. I've had great homemade venison and bear
jerky on the trail. If your've ever had young bear meat , it tastes like pork
steak from Safeway!! So next time you lose food to Mr. bear or he plays kick
ball with your canister, just pick up a piece of good wholesome " Bear Jerky"
wink and say, " Paybacks are Hell!!"
