Here's the lastest info from the USFS. I've also been told that thru hikers
are being intercepted on the Williamette NF before they get to Jefferson
Park. They are being fed there and then shuttled through the closed area
and dropped off to continue their progress.

Olallie Fire Complex
Good weather and good work cooperated in keeping the Olallie/Monan lake
fire from growing. Crews built line and mopped edges of the fire
keeping the total acreage at 2500 acres.
A Vertol 409 helicopter arrived yesterday to bring its specific brand of
fire-fighting to the effort.
With most of the fire on the Warm Springs reservation, Warm Springs
crews have built a contingency line behind the fire's front edge. If
all goes well, it won't be used and the fire will be corralled at the
minimum size possible.
Endanger species habitat, commercial timber, traditional food-gathering
areas and anadramous fish habitat are among the many values the fire
efforts is trying to protect.
Although most of the fire is to the east, structure protection crews are
continuing to secure the buildings and structures at the campgrounds.
So far, so good!
A mandatory evacuation order conducted by the Clackamas County Sheriff's
office began on August 13, 2001 at 2 pm and will remain in effect on the
Mt. Hood side of the fire.
On the Warm Springs side the Trout lake campground was closed. The
trails in the Trout lake area were also closed to use.

Olallie Meadows, Paul Denis, Peninsula, Breitenbush and Triangle Lake
