Cheack the archieves for where the orderds are posted. The affected areas
are:

or bear box required. no food hanging]
Inyo National Forest. most of the stretch between San Joaquin River to
Donahue Pass. [bear canisters required]
Yosemite National Park between Donahue Pass and just south of Sonora Pass.

Thanks, Rich for the heads-up on the archives list.
Since I have a zillion questions about the trail (no,
I'm not a total neophyte--just a very detail-oriented
person), I'll check it out. But I wanted to interact
a little to see how friendly/helpful (or
unfriendly/unhelpful) the people on this list are.
Thanks, Tom, for the scoop on the bear
containers/boxes. Are the government regulations
posted anywhere? I'd like to know what the
geographical areas are that are covered by the
regulations, what the specific requirements are, etc.
I'm a lawyer (please don't hold that against me), so I
like to read the specifics first-hand.
Sara
