[pct-l] Bear Encounters, Attacks Grow



maybe I am just really lucky...  but I have used stealth techniques in the worst bear areas (bear alley in Yosemite and near Vidette Meadow on the JMT) and I have never even ran into any bears.  perhaps stealth has allowed me to avoid confronting bears in the first place.

Ray Jardine's book has some good ideas about stealth camping:
