[pct-l] Brian's progress: not just in SI

http://www.siliconvalley.com/docs/opinion/daveplot/dp080201.htm

He was mentioned today in Plotnikoff's technology column!

I wonder:
how long before somebody markets a triple crown computer simulation game?
That might have positive as well as negative aspects, which is true for
anything that increases the public's awareness of long-distance hiking.

I don't think it takes anything away from Brian's achievements to consider
how much harder it was just to finish the PCT 30 years ago,
with very little of the recent support systems in place... from water
caches to the late Jack Fair. Maybe that should
get rolled into the game... pick your starting place and year and deal with
the same problems they had back then.

Anyway the CDT seems to be in about the same shape as the PCT after the
first guidebooks were published in 1974, so anybody who wants to roll back
the clock in real life can pick up his Kelty and go. The CDT guidebooks
are a lot heavier though!
