Hi,
On July 3rd, I finished Kennedy Meadows to Yosemite Valley. On July 13, I
finished my PCT-l Digests. I'm not sure which was more difficult! (Actually,
PCT-l didn't compare to the task of the backpackinglight list -ouch)
Anyways, I saw some hikers on the trail that I did not see mentioned on the
list:
June 22 in Independence: Dennis Coffey (double lung transplant) He let me grab
a shower in his hotel. Seemed to be doing well and transitioning to his home-
made, very lightweight gear.
June 27 VVR: Sibex, Bill & Lance, Tom & Don.
June 30 or so at Red's Meadow headed to Mammoth: Dave from Chicago. He'd been
hiking with Drew and Bailey (and I), but did not show up on the list from the
Red's Meadow report/party. He probably headed north sooner.
July 1 ? in Red's Meadow: Rob - Young thru-hiker traveling fast and lean. Mid-
May start date?
July 2 departing from Tuolumne Meadows: The Wolf Pack - Father & two grown sons
(The Prescotts)
July 3 in pouring thunderstom: Richard S., Lori Joy, and John from Oregon.
John had just switched to a cotton military duffle bag modified to be a
"backpack" and wouldn't take my pack. Hope he's hanging in there.
One more note: brothers Gavin and Tim were set up for two weeks by Marie Lakes
with 50 pounds of pancake mix and real maple syrup making pancakes (night or
day) and tea for any and all hikers. They had pack animals bring it up half
way, then became pack animals to get the supplies up there the rest of the way.
