I do not think the snow in the N Cascades is going to be a problem for
thru-hikers. It has been hot up here in Stehekin for the last week (high
90's and 98 yesterday) and if you check out the Stehekin river flow you can
see how much snow is left - NOT MUCH! The URL's for the water flow in WA
streams can be located from the one listed below (thanks Mike Aken for the

A month ago temperatures like we are presently experiencing resulted in
stream flows of 7000 cu-ft/Sec. There is very little snow left to melt.
Enjoy your N Cascades hikes but look out for the bugs. The mosquito
population has returned this past week and flies should be plentiful too.
