Jack Fair, one of the most memorable characters encountered by PCT hikers over the last few years was found in his home Saturday, June 30, dead from a self inflected gunshot wound. 77 years old at the time of his death, Jack enthralled scores of hikers over the years with tales of his adventures, his quirky sayings and colorful language.
Lois, proprietor of the Country Store a few miles from Jack’s home, said that he had made a few hints to several people in recent weeks. For many of us, his presence will be missed.
