Servers and connectivity have to be paid for somehow.

Now that the dot-com bubble Venture Capitol has dried up, internet services (like this list) have gone back to "hobbies" or are parasites existing because the owner has business resources that have available space left over.

You may oppose "commercial-ism" and "multi-national corporations," but severs and T1 lines cost money, even if all the "grunt work" is donated.

When was the last time you paid a webmaster, or a mailing-list admin for using their services?
