We camped at the tarn above Guitar Lake (which we had a view) and left most
of our gear and food in a tent while we hiked up and back. The marmots were
not a problem. Another couple summited a day later and left their stuff in a
tarp and again, no problems with the marmots. Of course, ymmv!

This campsite may have been the very best I have ever stayed, it was an
incredibly beautiful spot to spend the evening and made for an easy hike the
following day.
