No, 'rescued' is the right word.

When "undocumented immigrants" (speaking of the politically correct right
words) arrive in the Laguna Mountains to find snow, they tend to turn
themselves in, and wait in a warm restaurant for the Border Patrol to pick
them up.

There were three last year (2000) and nine the year before (1999) who didn't
volunteer to be rescued. They were taken away in body bags, having succumbed
to hypothermia in southern California.

Hikers, beware! It's not all fun and sun in the mountains at this time of
year.
