[pct-l] Greetings All

Hmmm, the ice axe question...I learned from my hiking partner and felt
confident in my self arresting skills. What I learned and practiced was
more than adequate to have saved my life in the early season of the Sierras
when we trekked through them in '99. Of course, my partner had taking
mounteering courses, so it was easy to trust that he knew what he was
talking about I was lucky to have him take me out on the local ski slope
and practice quite a bit. But prior to actually practicing, I found it
extremely helpful to use the book, "Freedom of the Hills" with it's handy
dandy illustrations. Other thoughts?

Wishing I was already on the trail,
Talus
