Also- u can get a **very** good estimate of
Southerly direction by making 2-3 gueses at the time and drawing lines
for each time guess, and noon for each time.

Then, average the halfway distance between each noon and each time guess.
Most people can tell whether it is 7,8, 9 or 10 am (at least by their
need for food ha ha ha) so u can get very dern close to knowing south...
or at least get pointed in the correct quadrant of SE,S,SW

Just dont look for moss on one side of the tree :-)
