Buying in the larger towns and mailing ahead is the way to go
To avoid a big wait at the P.O
try using a plastic tool box.
Put labels,tape, ect in and lock it.At the P.O.describe your "box"-you will be out and gone while other hikers are waiting for the clerk to find their box-VERY true on the AT.
No cutting down boxes or finding tape-easy in & out
