The Jack Fairs? You mean there's more than one? Please tell me Jack Fair is
a singular abberation, bless his soul. Do his "services" help improve the
hiking experience? Certainly they keep the journey plenty interesting, if
not a bit frightening by some standards. Would Mr. Fair offer assistance to
the hikers if the PCT were up on the ridge where it belongs? More likely his
presence in the trail community is incidental, it seems to me.
