Terri.

Absolutely take your Mother on the Eagle Creek Section (the Alternate from
the PCT) It is not scary at all. I did just that section last summer,
because I did not do it when I originally hiked Oregon. I went in at Lolo
Pass and hiked with some friends.

A little note, I am probably much older than your mother and I had no
problem at all.  So I recommend you take her there.
Maybe we will cross paths as I hike Washington this year in August.
