Subject: Big Agnes Reviews
Big Agnes ( a new sleeping bag manufacturer in Steamboat Springs, CO.) =
has signed on for testing and review of their new line of sleeping bags. =
These bags will be available toward the end of February. The chosen =
applicants will be allowed to choose any Big Agnes bag they choose. =
Unfortunately, their website will not be finished until then. To allow =
the selection process to begin I'm going to give a brief description of =
the line in general and each of their currently available bags. Big =
Agnes bags do not have an insolated bottom. The bottom of the bag is a =
sleeping pad sleeve. Big Agnes also makes a line of self-inflating pads =
that are included in this test series. The lack of insulation allows the =
bag to be much more compressible than comparable conventional bags. Big =
Agnes was initially going to produce light weight bags. As they are a =
start up company they were concerned that the bags would be too =
expensive for an unknown company to successfully market through "normal" =
outdoor retailers. The first bags they are bringing to market are =
heavier than we had hoped for but will be competitively priced. One of =
the side benefits of this style of bag that I really love is the fact =
that you can't wonder off the sleeping pad in your sleep. I toss, turn, =
and flop all night long. I've had a Big Agnes pre-pre-production bag for =
4 or 5 months now and I love that feature...no more cold butt or legs =
because I'm off the pad! All the currently offered bags are square cut =
at the bottom and offer exceptional room.=20
I will list the bags separately and their features. Final selected =
testers will be sent a catalogue directly from Big Agnes.

15 dg. 600 fill goose down mummy bag

2 lbs. 12 oz for Regular Shoulder girth: 70" Hip girth: 66" =

CROSS MOUNTAIN
40 dg. Polarguard 3D square cut over bag
This bag can be used as a summer bag or an over bag. It has the sleeve =
in the bottom so any bag inserted into it will stay on the Cross =
Mountain's pad.
2 lbs. 3 oz. for Regular girths are the same $119
2 lbs. 5 oz. for Long " =
$129
-10/60 SYSTEM
This is a combination of a Lost Ranger or Encampment and a Cross =
Mountain. It has a range of -10 degrees to 60 degrees.
REM SLEEP PADS
These pads come in a two lengths (72 and 78") and 3 thickness (1, 1.5, =
and 2) and corresponding R-values from 3-4 to 5-6.8. Their lightest pad =
is 32 oz. and their heaviest is 46 oz. I've used a 1.5 inch and it =
appears to be warmer than the Thermarest, even taking it's greater width =
in to account. The also have mummy cut pads.
We have 3 bags to test at this time.
