[pct-l] Access to Lower Mission Creek

Can anyone give me directions for getting overland from Morongo Valley into 
the spot where the Trail going north first hits Mission Creek?  I an 
interested in the closest approach available to a normal passenger car, dirt 
road OK, but not a Jeep trail.  It seems that there are private lands and an 
Indian Reservation to avoid.  Thanks,
