I only waited about 30  minutes to get a ride to Independence from the very 
first person that came down the trail from Kearsarge pass. I paid a motel 
owner $10 for a ride back to the trailhead, and she mailed a package for me 
to Vermilion Valley Resort. Just one of many trail angels. i know nothing 
about Bishop but I bet they have their share of trail angels,too.
