As you stated Ron, dried chicken and meats are lighter. By all means, use
these instead of canned foods. But for people who buy their food along the
trail, canned tuna and chicken maybe the only option. Minute rice, instant
gray and canned chicken are easy to find in most towns. I would rather pack
2ozs. of dried chicken than a 7 oz can. ----- Just reading a Cindy Ross
book. Her and her husband Todd were big Svea users as well. ----- Cost of
foods per pound comes into account when a hiker has a large family or
mortgage or both!!!! Mountain House may break the bank if used straight for
five months.----- I do have a good American Harvester Dehydrator which I use
to prepare weekend stuff, but lots of work preparing more than a weeks worth.
My start date is April 28th. See you folks the 29th at the kick off.
