Recalling the extremely high level of the Kings River in '98 from El Nino
spring runoff I looked at the topos for the trail from the PCT to the end of
the road at Cedar Grove (actually the end of the road is 5 miles further east
from Cedar Grove) along Bubbs Creek. The trail crosses Bubbs Creek and then
the South fork of the Kings River just before the road. Has anyone hiked
this recently? Are these bridged crossings or would you have to risk
fording both of these significant drainages in spring runoff?
In '98 the Kings River at Cedar Grove was up to the edge of the road and
looking all of a class IV white water mayhem.
