I think we can all sift through the advertising copy and see what's true and
what's not. I'm assuming they mean, in a pinch, if you had too, you could
carry 60 pounds. And they don't say it's going to be comfortable. As
everyone here knows, it won't be. I think they are saying that to speak of
it's strength, not comfort.
Anyway, who would want to carry 60 pounds that far with any pack?
I used a LWGear pack on my thru-hike and from that experience I'm never
going to use a pack without a hipbelt (I ended up sewing one on). Aside from
taking stress off the shoulders, it keeps the dang thing from flopping up
behind your head when trying to ford or maneuver on snow and ice.
