How do the Sleeping bags thinsilate work? How much do they weight? And what
is the temp. rating? I love reading about list hikers new inventions on
backpacks, stoves tents or whatever, but I HATE hearing Ray Baby says this or
that!!! If Jardine had been in the Sierra's in the May snowstorms of 77 with
his purse and backwards windbreaker, someone would have to bail his silly a- -
out. In good weather, you can hike naked and sleep in a garbage bag. ( hey,
lets go for broke!! ) I would rather be kicked in the ---- than hear " Ray
Say's " one more time by some sheep!!! The PCT is a trail for horse people,
week enders and ultra-light thru-hikers. Ultra-light hikes are one way to
enjoy the trail, but are not the only way to thru-hike the PCT. The margin of
insurance afforded by a more normal hiking approach could be safer under
tougher weather conditions. Just as some hikers cannot adapt to the ultra
approach, many hikers do not have the strength to do a thru-hike using
conventional gear. A 65lb. pack may seem harsh to many on this list, but
offers enough comfort to stay out in any weather to those who can handle the
weight. Many hikers choose the Jardine thinking only because they are unable
to thru-hike the PCT any other way.
