[pct-l] altimeter watch- is it worth taking?

I'm thinking of purchasing a Suunto altimeter watch, with compass and barometer built-in for the hike this year. Its kind of bulky to wear, but lots of cool features.  
  
If you've hiked the trail or major portions of it, what do you think?  Is it worth $200 plus the burden of carrying it?  Did it help in finding your way, etc?  Would you take it along again?

My Timex is already paid for, waterproof, and fairly reliable, but no altimeter (and I do have a separate compass).
